This beautiful green wool jacket and goldfinches were a perfect pair!  I enjoyed creating this, as the fluffy seed head thistles and the fine white feathers on the birds were a particular challenge.  The birds were created as appliqué elements, yarn couched on my domestic machine using a hoop, wash away stabilizer and tulle.  The floral elements were created by doing the yarn couching directly onto the jacket, again with my domestic machine.  I wore this coat for the first time to the Houston International Quilt Festival award ceremony…where it had good luck…as I won!
