October Sky, 2014

This is the third in a series of silk dupioni quilts done in my pictographic quilting style.  I love everything about a Pennsylvania fall … the colors, the smells, the harvest and all the busy critters.  With this quilt, I tried to capture that feeling using all original hand drawn motifs that are free-motion quilted.  The beaded details are tiny applique tubes individually stuffed with beads and hand tied off.  The center medallion and binding feature handmade beaded piping.  Derwent Inktese pencils were used on parts of the quilt to create shading.
