The awesome find of a genuine leather with snake print embossing motorcycle jacket at a local vintage clothing shop was the inspiration for this soft and feminine take on the classic “viper and roses” so popular in motorcycle and tattoo culture. I am particularly attracted to cherry blossoms, as I see them as a reminder of my childhood in Okinawa. I don’t love snakes, but Im not afraid of them either, thinking they are beautiful creatures. This snake was modeled after a green tree boa and designed to be a little friendlier, and a little softer than a strictly natural one.
The eye is a hand painted flat back dome bead, mounted from the back of the yarn couching. The snake and flowers were created in three sections and then collaged together. French knots embellish the cherry blossom stamens.
