This quilt is an experiment in yarn couching.  I hoped to go beyond just using couching in place of quilting, and instead use it as an art medium to create a life like textural object.  The hand-dyed background features many patterns and designs from my book, “Quilted Textures from A to Zen”.  I wasn€™t planning on using this quilt for show, but a few shows have become adventurous with interesting new categories where yarn couching seems welcome.  I had a lot of fun making this quilt, and plan to explore this medium further.
